Every land in Smittenland is hosted by one girl who takes her job — and you — a little too personally. Six more claimed the spaces in between: the snack carts, the parade route, the fireworks. Collect all twelve ticket stamps. They notice if you skip one. They compare notes.
Dragon · Keeper of the Coasters
"Is it hot in here, or is it just me? …It's me. It's always me."
Runs the Heartburn, a coaster with three loops and one apology. Signs autographs by lightly scorching them. Has never once lost a staring contest, because dragons don't blink and neither does her confidence.
Mermaid · Voice of the Lagoon
"I've sung a thousand sailors to shore. You? You I'd let steer."
Hosts the Siren Soak flume ride and hums the queue music live, all day, from memory. Keeps a shell for every guest who waves back. She is running out of shelf space and refuses to stop.
Robot · Arcade Administrator
"Your heart rate is up twelve percent. Mine says ERROR: SMITTEN."
Calculates a compatibility score for every guest at the Love Tester 9000. The machine has never displayed a number below 97%, and Volta insists this is a hardware feature, not a bug she wrote herself.
Ghost · Resident of the Manor
"Most guests scream when I appear. You made me blush. That's worse."
Haunts a forty-room mansion but only ever appears in the room you're in. Vanishes instantly if compliments are returned. The manor's guestbook is full of hearts she claims the previous owners drew.
Faun · Warden of the Meadow
"I saved you a seat on the slow carousel. It's a two-hour ride. On purpose."
Operates the World's Slowest Carousel, tends four hundred flowerbeds, and hands a daisy to anyone who looks like they needed one. She is statistically never wrong about who needed one.
Alien · Ambassador of the Midway
"I've seen forty galaxies. Not one of them had you in it. Rude of them."
Landed her saucer in Lot C in 1987 and stayed for the funnel cake. Runs the Zero-G Kiss Cam, which she invented, judges, and has won eleven times. Her antennae light up when she's fibbing. They're always lit.
Fox · Sovereign of Snacks
"I tell everyone I saved them the last churro. With you, I actually did."
Commands nine food carts and remembers your order after one visit, forever. Her tail knocks over a cup pyramid every time someone charming walks past. The two events are, she insists, unrelated.
Witch · Reader of Fortunes
"The cards say you'll be back Thursday. I work Thursdays. Spooky."
Reads palms, tea leaves, and the direction the wind takes your hair. Every fortune she has ever told ends with "…and you'll meet someone wonderful." She declines to elaborate. She is always looking right at you when she says it.
Songbird · Parade Marshal
"Front row is reserved every night. Ask me who it's for. Go on, ask."
Leads the nine o'clock parade and holds the final note until it reaches every corner of the park. Molts glitter instead of feathers. Throws confetti to the crowd at random — random, statistically, except for you.
Rabbit · Keeper of the Shop
"Take the plush of me home. Then one of us always knows the other is thinking of them."
Wraps every purchase in a minimum of three bows. Maintains a shelf of things guests almost bought, so she can bring it up warmly next visit. The plush of her is the shop's best seller and she signs every single ear.
Yeti · Matriarch of Ice Cream
"Your cone is extra tall so you'll have to stand here longer. That's just ice cream science."
Serves seventy-four flavors from a parlor kept at a brisk indoor snowfall. Always carries two cones. She will not explain the second cone. The second cone is for you. Has never once been cold, but will accept your offer of a warmer spot next to you anyway.
Firefly · Director of Fireworks
"Stay for the last one. It's heart-shaped, and I aim it at wherever you're standing."
Glows measurably brighter when complimented; the park keeps the data. Launches the finale from the castle roof and climbs down in time to see faces. The final heart firework has never missed. Not once. She checks.
And between them: a snack boulevard, a fortune tent, a parade route, a gift shop, an ice cream glacier, and one rooftop where the fireworks are aimed with unsettling care.
Volcano coasters, toasted-marshmallow stands, and a hot-spring foot bath at the exit of every ride.
